About

Typing Storm is a free typing speed test that doesn't stop at the test. You type real sentences — proper prose with capital letters and punctuation, not a shuffled bag of words — because that's what actually builds rhythm. Run a clean 15, 30 or 60 second measure of your words per minute and accuracy, then switch to Storm, where words fall out of the sky and the only thing standing between them and the ground is how fast you can spell. There's a Daily Challenge too — the same thirty seconds of words for everyone, every day. Nothing to install, no sign-up, and your best scores are saved in your browser.

How to Play

• Speed Test — pick 15s, 30s or 60s and just start typing. The clock starts on your first keystroke, not before.
• Press space to move to the next word. Backspace fixes the word you're on, and pressing it on an empty word walks back to the last word you got wrong so you can correct it. Ctrl (or Cmd) + backspace clears the whole word.
• Correct letters turn bright, wrong ones turn red, and a word you finish badly gets underlined so you can see where you're losing time.
• The text is made of complete sentences, so capitals and punctuation count — type them exactly as they appear.
• Tab restarts the run, Esc returns to the menu.

Storm Mode

• Words drift down the screen. Type any one of them — you don't pick a target first, just start spelling and the matching word locks on.
• Finish a word and it bursts. Your combo climbs with every clean kill and multiplies the score, up to x9.
• Let a word cross the red line and you lose a shield and your combo. Three shields and the storm wins.
• Every twelve words the wave steps up: words fall faster and arrive more often.
• Mistyped letters simply don't register, so a slip costs you time rather than the run.

How Speed Is Measured

• WPM uses the standard definition — five characters count as one word, and only words you completed correctly count toward it.
• Accuracy is the share of keystrokes that hit the right letter, so hammering backspace won't hide a messy run.
• Around 40 wpm is average, 60–70 is comfortably quick, and past 100 you're in the top few percent.

Tips

• Accuracy beats speed. Fixing a bad word costs more than typing it right the first time.
• Look one word ahead of the one you're typing — reading and typing at the same time is most of the skill.
• In Storm, clear the lowest word first even if a longer one is worth more points.
• Keep your hands still. Speed comes from moving fingers, not moving arms.
